From a family workshop to a business group with international presence
MetalPrest Group
is the result of a vision, a decision, and decades of work. Founded by Norberto Lucas Tordecilla Páez and his wife Eva, the company was born from the conviction that with effort, talent, and determination, it was possible to build something great from nothing.
What began in a room in his home in Cartagena, Colombia—with just two machines and not enough space—eventually grew into a multinational business group that now operates in Colombia and the United States, backed by international certifications and the trust of the world’s most demanding industries.

This has been our journey:
1982
It all began in the El Socorro neighborhood of Cartagena. Norberto Lucas Tordecilla Páez set up two machines in his own room, marking the start of what would become his business life. While he continued working at SENA, a nephew took care of the first clients.
Early Years
Client trust grew, and so did demand. Norberto and his wife decided to sell one lot, buy a new one, and commit fully to the market. That property is today MetalPrest's main headquarters in Cartagena.
Growth
The small family workshop grew into a leading metalworking company in the Colombian Caribbean, earning the trust of clients such as Ecopetrol, COTECMAR, Tenaris, Cenit, Ternium, and Mexichem.
Expansion
MetalPrest Group opens operations in the Zona Franca La Candelaria in Mamonal, Cartagena, as an Industrial User of Goods and Services, and establishes a location in Houston, Texas, consolidating its reach into international markets.
Today
Multinational Business Group. With ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ASME, and National Board certifications, MetalPrest Group operates in the world's most demanding sectors: Oil & Gas, petrochemical, mining, maritime, port, and shipbuilding.
